2 hospitalized in critical condition after rollover crash on I-10 in Phoenix

Two people were critically injured in a rollover crash on a Phoenix freeway early Wednesday, first responders said.

PHOENIX – Two people were critically injured in a rollover crash on a Phoenix freeway early Wednesday, first responders said.

The two-car wreck on westbound Interstate 10 near 40th Street blocked two lanes around 5 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Phoenix Fire Department said the injured pair was ejected from their vehicle, which went through a barrier before coming to a stop.

A man and a woman, each in their 30s, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene and refused an ambulance ride to the hospital, a fire department spokesman said.

No other details were made available.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Phoenix Police Department were investigating the cause of the crash.
