2 Arizona drug traffickers sentenced to prison after $1.3M worth of illegal substances found

PHOENIX — Two men were each sentenced to years in prison for being involved in a drug trafficking organization after more than $1.3 million worth of illegal substances was found at their Tucson residence.

Diego Bernal-Robles, 29, and Cipriano Arturo Rojas-Armenta, 44, each pleaded guilty to felony offenses in the drug bust that followed a monthslong investigation by police, Arizona Attorney General Marck Brnovich announced in a press release on Tuesday.

A search warrant conducted at the residence in September 2020 resulted in 230 pounds of meth, 25 pounds of cocaine and 25 pounds of heroin being recovered, authorities said. Materials used to manufacture meth were also found.

Bernal-Robles was sentenced in December to five years behind bars, while Rojas-Armenta will spend three years in prison after being sentenced last week.

Investigation of the case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Tempe Police Department and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office with assistance from the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force HIDTA Clandestine Lab Team.
