18 stolen mail-in ballots found in West Valley field, returned to voters

PHOENIX – Eighteen stolen, unopened mail-in ballots were found in a field and returned to West Valley voters last week, authorities said Tuesday.

A worker found the ballots, still in their yellow envelopes, Friday under a rock near 99th and Glendale avenues in Glendale, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office said in a press release.

The person who found the ballots reported it to the Glendale Police Department.

Investigators determined they’d been stolen from mailboxes in a neighborhood near 107th and Northern avenues.

Agents from the attorney general’s office and police officers returned the ballots to the victims on Saturday, according to the release.

Voters can check the status of their early ballots at the Arizona Secretary of State website.
