16-year-old facing murder charges for deadly June shooting in Phoenix

A man who was shot in Phoenix in June died last week and a 16-year-old is now facing homicide charges, authorities said.
The Phoenix Police Department identified the man who died as 35-year-old Jesus Herrera Maykar.
On June 28, officers were called to an apartment complex in the area of 27th and Glendale avenues just after 4:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived at the scene, they found Maykar suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Officers were alerted by the Real-Time Operations Center about a suspect who was fleeing and later took him into custody.
Authorities also located the handgun that was used in the shooting.
