PHOENIX — A 12-year-old girl is facing the possibility of criminal charges after allegedly threatening her fellow students at a Buckeye school on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The seventh grader allegedly threatened to shoot her classmates at WestPark Elementary School, which is near Rooks Road and Westpark Loop, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. to investigate.

They didn’t find a firearm on campus. However, police will submit charges for threats and disorderly conduct.

Additionally, the girl will also be disciplined at the school level, police said.

This isn’t the only recent incident in Buckeye involving minors and weapons.

On Dec. 3, two boys, aged 10 and 16, allegedly brought a gun to a Buckeye park, leading to their arrests.

Furthermore, in April, four teens — including three juveniles — were arrested after a fight involving a gun at Freedom Elementary School near Verrado Way and Yuma Road, police said.

Not much meat on the bones of this story but one has to wonder if bullying was the motivation (see comment below)? Absent of family or school administration support and intervention, I can see a desperate pre-teen resorting to threats like this (hopefully idle threats).
