10-year-old girl in critical condition after being pulled from pool in Mesa

A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized after being pulled from a Mesa pool Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Mesa Fire and Medical Department crews responded to reports of a drowning just before 1:40 p.m. They were told the child had been removed from the pool and a bystander was performing CPR.

Firefighters arrived and continued providing care to the girl before she was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition.

Fire officials did not say what led to the girl being found in the pool.
