1-year-old girl brought back to life after being pulled from Mesa pool

A child is in critical condition after being pulled from a swimming pool in Mesa near Greenfield Road and Southern Avenue on Friday morning.

PHOENIX — A young girl was brought back to life after being pulled from a swimming pool in Mesa on Friday morning, authorities said.

Mesa Fire and Medical responded to the drowning call around 10:50 a.m. near Greenfield Road and Southern Avenue.

The child was transported to Cardon Children’s Medical Center, where she was initially pronounced dead at the hospital.

Doctors immediately took additional life-saving measures as soon as the 1-year-old girl began to show signs of life, according to Mesa police.

Authorities say the child is currently alive and in very critical condition.

Police also said it was unknown how the 1-year-old child got into the pool or how long she was there.

No other information was immediately available.
