1 man dead following multi-vehicle collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man has died following a multi-vehicle collision in Phoenix on Saturday night, authorities said.

At 8 p.m., police were called to a crash involving two vehicles near Bethany Home Road and 20th Avenue, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Upon arrival, police found 67-year-old Manuel Sanchez with injuries. Sanchez did not survive the collision and was pronounced dead on scene.

After an investigation, authorities said Sanchez was standing on Bethany Home Road when he was struck by an SUV heading westbound and then another vehicle behind the SUV. 

Both drivers of the vehicles were contacted by the police. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
