1 killed, 4 injured in shooting at Phoenix hotel, gunman escapes

PHOENIX — Police said a man was killed and four women were injured in a shooting at an extended-stay hotel near downtown Phoenix.

The suspect in the Sunday night shooting of Jessuh Williams, 37, a man, was still at large.

Witnesses told authorities that they heard arguing at the site near Van Buren and 25th streets shortly before 8 p.m. Then they heard shots.

Williams died of his injuries at a hospital, police spokesman Sgt. Armando Carbajal said in a Monday email.

Three unidentified women in the room all suffered serious injuries but were expected to survive.

A fourth woman was also injured, the other three said, but she left before police arrived.

That woman got hold of police at the hospital, Carbajal said.
