At least 1 person hurt after road rage situation turns into shooting in Mesa

PHOENIX — A person was left injured after a road rage situation in Mesa turned into a shooting on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

According to the Mesa Police Department, the incident occurred in the area of Val Vista and University drives.

Police said that preliminary information indicated the shooting started as a road rage situation before escalating.

According to police, at least one person was shot. However, the extent of their injuries was not shared.

The scene was still active around 10 a.m.

Police asked the public to avoid the area during the investigation.
