1 dead, 1 rushed to hospital after helicopter crashes at Mesa park

PHOENIX — One person died after a helicopter made a crash landing at a Mesa park on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

A second occupant of the helicopter was rushed to the hospital after it crashed at Sherwood Park, located between Southern Avenue and the U.S. 60 on Horne Road, Mesa Police Detective Nik Rasheta said in an email.

The two occupants were the only ones in the helicopter when it crashed, Rasheta said.

No other information was immediately available.
