Man facing 2nd degree murder charge after fatal west Phoenix shooting

A man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at a home in west Phoenix on Sunday night, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department identified the man who died as 48-year-old Rogelio Aparicio Aguilera.

Officers responded to a residence near 47th Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a shooting around 8:15 p.m.

They found Aguilera suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Phoenix Fire.

The suspect, who authorities identified as 53-year-old Efren Espinosa Pineda, fled the scene but was later taken into custody by detectives. He was booked into jail on a second-degree murder charge.

Preliminary information indicated Pineda shot Aguilera during a dispute.
