HonorHealth completes $170M expansion at Deer Valley Medical Center

PHOENIX — HonorHealth has wrapped up a massive $170 million renovation and expansion at Deer Valley Medical Center, marking a major milestone in providing care for the expanding north Phoenix area.

The project, which launched in 2023, centers around a new four-story, 166,000-square-foot patient care pavilion. To help meet rising demand, the hospital’s bed count was bumped from 204 to 238.

“North Phoenix continues to evolve, and we’re evolving with it by creating a more advanced, efficient environment that supports exceptional care today and well into the future,” Matt Morgan, administrator of HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, said in a press release.

In addition to the new pavilion, the campus has four new operating rooms and expanded pre- and post-operative areas. The project also included a redesigned lobby and main entrance, along with upgraded amenities meant to make navigating the hospital easier for patients and visitors.

Local leaders are praising the investment as a much-needed boost for the area’s healthcare infrastructure.

“As north Phoenix grows, so does the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare,” Phoenix City Councilwoman Ann O’Brien said. “This investment ensures residents can receive the care they need close to home, and it reflects a strong commitment to supporting the health and vitality of our community.”

Final touches on the project, including a new first-floor cafeteria and an updated kitchen, are expected to open this summer.

A ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration is in the works for later in 2026.
