GCU holds groundbreaking ceremony for honors college expansion

PHOENIX — Grand Canyon University broke ground on the expansion of its Ingram Honors College on Monday.

The university renamed the honors college after Mike and Sheila Ingram in February to reflect the couple’s decades of community leadership and financial support.

The Ingrams are also helping establish a network of mentors for the honors college’s students called the Kingdom Impact Council. It is an invitation-only, faith-based group that comprises nationally recognized Christian business, civic and nonprofit leaders.

The expansion will be 51,000 square feet and centrally located on GCU’s campus. It is meant to cultivate innovation, collaboration and spiritual formation.

The expanded honors college is expected to consist of modern classrooms, lecture halls, indoor-outdoor gathering areas and student lounges. Visitors will also be greeted by a two-story glass lobby.

The renovations are supposed to be complete by fall 2026.
