A massive shopping center in the West Valley is expanding its roster of stores, dining options and entertainment venues.

Verrado Marketplace, the 500,000-square-foot development located at the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and Verrado Way, recently welcomed a wave of new tenants, with more stores set to open by the end of the year.

Businesses that opened in September include Gap Factory, Just Sports, Paramount Hair & Extensions, Pacific Dental Services and Zara Nails & Spa.

“We’re excited to see Verrado Marketplace continue coming to life as new retailers, restaurants and services open their doors,” Harrison Cole, leasing and development manager at Vestar, said in a news release.

“The response from the Buckeye and greater West Valley community has been extremely positive, and this next phase of openings will bring even more of the shopping, dining, entertainment and everyday conveniences residents have been looking forward to.”

What’s opening next at Verrado Marketplace?

The momentum carries into the fall with the Oct. 15 debut of The District, an outdoor community gathering space that will feature a splash pad, a live performance stage with a large video screen and a half-acre community green surrounded by dining options.

The initial wave of openings at The District will feature SALT, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Shake Shack.

In November, an immersive speakeasy concept called Emersa is scheduled to open. The lounge features 4K virtual reality displays, projection mapping, atmospheric lighting and audio elements designed to transform the environment for guests.

A 63,500-square-foot Safeway grocery store is also slated to open its doors in November.

Verrado Marketplace will wrap up the year with the arrival of Harkins Verrado Theatres and BackLot, a 65,000-square-foot theater and entertainment destination, alongside OHSO Brewery & Distillery, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Rapid expansion in the West Valley

The upcoming arrivals follow a busy summer that saw anchor tenants Target, Marshalls and HomeGoods open, along with several other national and regional brands.

Recent additions include Ross Dress for Less, Ulta Beauty, Bath & Body Works, Buckle, Famous Footwear, Kay Jewelers, See’s Candies, Sourdough & Co., Einstein Bros. Bagels, America’s Best, Elite Shutters & Blinds, Great Clips, CityVet and NextCare Urgent Care.

When fully completed, the $275 million development will house more than 55 retailers, restaurants and service providers. The center will also feature Vestar’s “Sip & Stroll” program, allowing adult guests 21 and older to carry alcoholic beverages in designated outdoor areas during community events and live music performances.

City officials project the development will generate more than $50 million in tax revenue for Buckeye, contribute an estimated $1.8 billion in economic output over the next decade and create more than 1,500 permanent jobs in the region.
