The wait for north Phoenix’s first Trader Joe’s is nearly over, with the grocery store set to open at Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Vestar, the shopping center’s developer, announced Tuesday that the chain known for its novelty foods will become the state’s 22nd Trader Joe’s location.

The location will be 15,000 square feet and based in the center located off the Loop 101 Pima Freeway and Tatum Boulevard.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase at this Trader Joe’s, in addition to its other specialty bakery and produce items.

Trader Joe’s is one of the most highly anticipated additions to Desert Ridge Marketplace, and we’re excited to welcome them to the center,” Jenny Cushing, vice president of leasing at Vestar, said in a release. “Their arrival will not only strengthen the grocery offering in the North Phoenix area, but also aligns seamlessly with our best-in-class retailers, further elevating the overall shopping experience for our customers.”

The center is expected to add four restaurants this year, a few of them being Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, set to open in summer 2026, and cocktail lounge Globe in the Dark.

A Trader Joe’s is set to open in Tucson on Friday.
