Sports betting in Arizona slowed down in the final month of 2024, but that didn’t mean the year wasn’t a success for sportsbooks in the state.
The latest numbers released this week from the Arizona Department of Gaming show a December handle — or total amount wagered — of $849.3 million, which was a 5.4% drop from the record $897.6 million wagered in November.
Despite the month-to-month decline, the year turned out — as expected — to be one of major growth for sports betting operators in the state. The year’s total handle of nearly $7.96 billion was 21.1% higher than 2023’s $6.57 billion.
