Porter Airlines expands Phoenix winter service with new Canada flights

PHOENIX – Canadian snowbirds will soon have more flight options to reach Phoenix.

Porter Airlines is expanding its winter Phoenix service with new daily nonstop flights from Edmonton and Calgary, the return of Vancouver service and a second daily flight from Toronto.

The Canadian airline announced Thursday that daily Edmonton-to-Phoenix service will begin Nov. 6, followed by daily Calgary-to-Phoenix flights starting Dec. 20. Porter also said it will resume flights between Vancouver and Phoenix and increase Toronto-Phoenix service from once daily to twice daily.

All Phoenix flights will offer connections beyond Sky Harbor through Porter’s partnership with American Airlines, the carrier said.

The Arizona routes are part of a larger winter schedule expansion that includes new service to destinations in Aruba, Jamaica, Costa Rica and Mexico.

In total, Porter said it expects to operate nearly 5,000 flights to sun destinations next winter, an increase of more than 150% compared with the previous year.

“We are concluding an extremely successful first season of flying to southern markets beyond the U.S. and are building on this with additional destinations and routes for next winter,” Andrew Pierce, Porter’s vice president of network planning and reporting, said in a statement.
