Professional pickleball tour partners with Arizona facility, makes capital investment

The Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa entered a multi-decade partnership with the Carvana PPA Tour that will make the East Valley facility a national home of the professional pickleball organization.

The AAG’s pickleball facility will be renamed to “PPA Campus at Arizona Athletic Grounds” to reflect the tour’s year-round operations takeover.

It offers 41 courts, including four that have spectator stands and a covered championship stadium with room for up to 2,000 onlookers.

The newly named PPA Campus at Arizona Athletic Grounds has already hosted Carvana PPA Tour events such as the Carvana Mesa Cup and the Veolia Arizona Open, and it will continue to host major tour events. Additionally, new tournaments and training will call the facility home.

“Year after year, the success of Carvana PPA Tour events at Arizona Athletic Grounds underscores just how amazing the facility, its staff and the broader Mesa pickleball community are,” Carvana PPA Tour founder and CEO Connor Pardoe said in a news release.

“We are incredibly excited to be able to invest in the development of the new PPA Campus at Arizona Athletic Grounds not only from an infrastructure standpoint, but also from the perspective of programming and initiatives that grow the sport and our passionate community of pro and amateur players.”

The PPA is injecting funds to add shade, seating and other accommodations to help flesh out the campus’s year-round capabilities.

“We have long admired the incredible organization that Connor Pardoe and the team at the PPA have built, and to execute this expansive, multi-decade partnership is a major win for both our organizations,” CEO of AAG Mike Burke said.
