Phoenix-area inflation is up 2.5% over last year, including a 0.5% increase over the last two months, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Phoenix-area inflation is up 2.5% from last year, including a 0.5% increase over the last two months, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Notable price increases over the last year include gasoline (32.5% increase), energy (19.1%) and food (1.7%), according to a news release.

From June to August, food prices declined by 1.6% despite the year-long increase, but energy and gas followed the year-long trend with 4.6% and 5.1% increases, respectively.

While the Phoenix area saw inflation rise by 2.5%, prices rose by 3.4% nationally over the last year.
