ERMCO to open new manufacturing facility in West Valley, creating 500 jobs

PHOENIX — A new manufacturing facility that will create more than 500 jobs is coming to the West Valley.

The Electric Research and Manufacturing Cooperative (ERMCO) operation will be located at 15784 W. Hatcher Road in Waddell, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix, near Loop 303 and Northern Avenue.

The Tennessee-based company makes liquid-filled distribution transformers for utility, commercial and industrial markets.

The 566,121-square-foot West Valley facility will be ERMCO’s first west of the Mississippi River.

Foundational work will start this year, and the building is expected to be operational in 2027.

Why did ERMCO select Arizona for its new manufacturing facility?

Arizona was chosen for its strong business climate, skilled labor market and proximity to key customer regions, the company said.

“This expansion is about more than building a facility; it’s about building the future,” Tim Mills, ERMCO president and CEO, said in a press release Wednesday. “Our goal is simple: power the grid and power progress. This investment ensures ERMCO is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is among the local officials who voiced their support for the project.

“Arizona’s commitment to reliable energy infrastructure is driving our state’s growth, and ERMCO’s new manufacturing facility will build on that momentum,” said Hobbs said in a press release. “This facility will help strengthen our energy grid and create hundreds of new jobs for Arizonans.”
