Safeway will anchor new shopping center in Buckeye

Plans are underway for a new Buckeye shopping center anchored by a Safeway grocery store.

Pederson Group is developing Festival Ranch Marketplace, a 114,000-square-foot commercial center at Canyon Springs Boulevard and Sun Valley Parkway.

Safeway will anchor the center, with other retailers and service businesses expected to fill the remaining space.

“For years, one of the most common questions we’ve heard from Festival Ranch residents has been ‘When are we getting a grocery store?’ Today, we’re excited to finally share that answer,” Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn said in a Monday release.

Pederson Group bought the land from PulteGroup, the developer behind Buckeye’s Festival Ranch master-planned community, which spans more than 10,000 acres in northwest Buckeye.

“The arrival of Safeway is a major milestone for this community, bringing convenient access to groceries while also attracting the services and amenities that help create a complete community and improve the quality of life for the residents who call this area home,” Osborn said.

Festival Ranch Marketplace is set to open around the end of 2027. The $45 million shopping center will be developed, owned and managed by Pederson Group.

The new shopping center and grocery store will benefit the surrounding area, according to Pederson Group President Jeff Manelis.

“We look forward to bringing a thoughtfully designed center with an architectural flair and much-needed amenities to one of the fastest-growing areas of the West Valley,” Manelis said.
