Economic advancement hub to open near Phoenix Sky Harbor

PHOENIX — A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate a new hub for economic advancement in Phoenix is set in the near future, according to officials.

The hub at 1 S. 24th Street is called the Arizona Hub for Economic Advancement and Talent (HEAT), and it will open in Phoenix’s Gateway district near Sky Harbor Airport sometime before March 31.

Its purpose is to connect employers, sponsors and talent through workforce development initiatives, focusing on supporting entrepreneurship and driving forward economic equity.

The 1.55-acre property was designed to accommodate 50 to 60 nonprofit organizations, offering shared resources like meeting rooms, event space and front desk services for businesses.

Officials said they want to measure the HEAT center’s success by tracking data such as job placement and retention. This will help them make sure their services align with what employers in the Valley are looking for.

Overall, the Arizona HEAT Center will serve as a shared campus for startup founders, technology employers, education partners and civic stakeholders to boost the way sectors that usually operate independently coordinate with one another. Here are some confirmed tenants:

• The William Johnson Foundation
• Four Angels Foundation
• Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s community outreach initiatives

Phoenix Vice Mayor Kesha Hodge Washington said the Arizona HEAT center represents community-focused and innovative development.

“By transforming this historic property into a collaborative hub for nonprofit organizations, One South 24th Street Development Group LLC is creating more than just office space,” Hodge Washington said in an announcement. “They’re building a foundation for stronger community partnerships and expanded services for Phoenix residents.”
