Zipline to launch drone delivery service in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Instead of depending on ground service for food, health and other consumer supplies, Phoenix residents will soon be able to utilize drone delivery through American robotics company, Zipline.

Zipline already serves Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and is expanding its range to include Phoenix and Houston in early 2026. It also services five countries in Africa (Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Cote D’Ivoire).

Prospective customers will be able to order “tens of thousands of items” via the Zipline app, and orders will come in as few as 10 minutes, according to a press release.

The robotics company passed 2 million total deliveries last week and carries a valuation of $7.6 billion. It raised about $600 million to make the coming expansion possible.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said Zipline’s expansion to the Valley is a recognition of the city being a fertile hub for “advanced technology, autonomous systems and jobs of the future.”

“This investment will bring affordable, faster and cleaner delivery options to our community and reinforces Phoenix’s position at the forefront of the future of logistics and mobility,” Gallego said.

Zipline drones are insulated to block out rain and keep food hot or cold and arrive exactly where customers ask for it to land. Existing service areas have delivered from Walmart, Chipotle and Panera Bread.
