Drone wars: Amazon, Walmart race to expand delivery across Phoenix metro

Two major national retailers are racing to expand their drone delivery services to reach more consumers across the Valley.

Amazon has offered drone delivery to customers within a seven-mile radius of its Tolleson warehouse for almost two years. Now it will serve 16 ZIP codes across the Phoenix metro, according to an August 19 announcement.

Those ZIP codes include: 85031, 85033, 85035, 85037, 85043, 85301,85303, 85305, 85307, 85323, 85338, 85339, 85340, 85353, 85392 and 85395.

The move comes shortly after Walmart announced similar plans to expand its drone delivery operations, as both retailers are expanding their services in new states and cities across the country beyond Phoenix.
