YouTube rewinds biggest videos, people, moments of 2014
Similar to how Google released a video recapping its most searched-for items of 2014, YouTube also put together something for the biggest moments of the year on its site.
Similar to how Google released a video recapping its most-searched items of 2014, YouTube also has put together something for the biggest “moments, memes, and people” of the year on its site.
It’s a musical affair as the “YouTube Rewind” begins with some reinterpretations of the most popular songs of last year. It then moves into an extended montage of ice bucket challenges, which were all the craze during the summer.
Late-night talk shows also tend to elicit plenty of viral moments, so it’s no surprise that Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and Conan O’Brien all make appearances in the video.
If the first five minutes leave you a little lost, the last minute and a half of the video gives you a chance to explore a little deeper, particularly the users who made headway on the social media site in 2014.
YouTube appears to be pretty good at promoting its own content, as the year-end “Rewind” video has more than 76 million hits as of Wednesday night.
Into the new year we go.
