On the heels of a Valley summer, little seems more foreign than snow.

But Monday, parts of civilized North America were hit with frozen precipitation. This is akin to that first triple-digit temperature day we get here in Phoenix — we know we’ll be in for a long run of uncomfortable weather.

So imagine the sheer horror residents of Calgary, Alberta felt when they read the first words of their city’s news release Sunday morning.

Special weather statement in effect for: City of Calgary

First snowfall of the season possible on Monday, which everybody else in Canada will rightly make fun of your for, especially Edmonton.

Typo included, the release is clearly a spoof, but it taps in to the bone-chilling reality of winter, going on to ponder how long the first snowfall would last.

And that reality was realized Monday. (Imagine the sheer horror.)

“Perhaps it will snow every day from now on. Hard to say, really.”

This, this is gold. Snowy gold. With icicles hanging from it. In Frosty’s grill. Next to platinum, et al. Way to go, Calgary spoofers.

Oh, and we feel sorry for you.
