PHOENIX — More than 15 people were stung multiple times by a large swarm of bees near an Islamic center in Phoenix, stirring up buzz in the Valley.

The Phoenix Fire Department reported the group of bees began attacking people in the area of the Muslim Community Mosque near McDowell Road and 32nd Street on Friday afternoon.

At least one person, a 24-year-old male, was sent to the hospital, Phoenix Fire reported. His condition and identity were not immediately released.

More than 20 people complained of getting stung, but most were treated and released at the scene in stable condition.
