Arizona athlete graduation success rate surges

Athletes are known to have on-the-road schedules and less time for schoolwork, but the state of Arizona is actually experiencing an increase in athlete graduation rates.
Northern Arizona University has the most number of Arizona athletes completing school with 85 percent, followed by Arizona State University with 82 percent and University of Arizona with 75 percent.
The graduation success rate is determined by the proportion of first-year, full-time athletes that enter on a scholarship and graduate within six years. It also adjusts for transfer students. The National Collegiate Athletic Association gathered this data from the 2003-2004 and 2006-2007 school years.
U of A has the lowest graduation success rate in the PAC-12, says the Arizona Sonora News Service.
Former University of Arizona football player Matt Scott, who was at Arizona from 2008-2012, will be remembered as one of the most-productive quarterbacks in school history. But 6 1/2 years since he first arrived at the university, Scott is still without a degree, a circumstance that isn’t unfamiliar to former Arizona student athletes.
Scott plans to finish school this winter session, according to the Arizona Sonora News Service. He has one class remaining to finish his degree.
ASU meanwhile boasts that their student athletes finished the fall semester with both a semester and cumulative GPA over 3.00 for the fifth straight time.
