In a race marred by some ugly advertising, it was Brnovich and his message of pushing back the Obama administration that officially won the vote.
Brnovich defeated the embattled Republican incumbent, Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, in the August primary. Brnovich received the backing of Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer in the race.
“It has been my experience that doing the right thing often means doing the hard thing,” Brewer said in a statement released by Brnovich’s campaign during the primary. “That’s why I look for candidates with the courage of conviction to stand for Arizona and who are willing to stand up against the Obama Administration.”
In debates, Rotellini touted her background handling complex civil litigation as an assistant attorney general and called Brnovich an ideologue who will bring partisan politics to the office. She cited an email he sent to backers saying he would be “the pro-life” attorney general.
Rotellini ran four years ago against Horne and lost.
