May 6, 2014, 11:16 AM | Updated: 11:16 am

PHOENIX — The number of people arrested for driving under the influence over the Cinco de Mayo weekend dropped in 2014, the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety said Tuesday.

In total, 500 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2014, down from 525 one year prior.

Arrest numbers were down across the board, with aggravated DUI, misdemeanor DUI and extreme DUI charges lower in 2014 than 2013. The average blood-alcohol content also dropped from .151 to .146.

There was a jump in non-DUI citations, including the number of seat belt and child restraint citations.

The arrests were made statewide by a DUI task force of 1,881 officers.
