The director of the NFL Environmental Program is hoping the National Championship Game in Arizona Jan. 11 will be as sustainable as the Super Bowl last year.

Jack Groh and team are working with multiple Arizona businesses and nonprofits to ensure the game is green, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

Among the sustainable initiatives are collecting extra food from the pregame events that will be distributed by Waste Not of Arizona; several organizations including the Salvation Army collecting leftover banners and office supplies; the recycling of all stadium waste and reusing of food waste; and the use of renewable power supplied by Salt River Project.

The NCAA National Championship game takes place at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
