Sunny Arizona will begin the new year on Friday with the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl kicking off before noon in Glendale at University of Phoenix Stadium. The contest between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish is one of the premiere bowl games of the season.
On Wednesday, the Phoenix Zoo’s nine-year-old Bornean orangutan decided which team he thought would win. OK, he picked the color of t-shirt he liked more.
Would it be Ohio State’s scarlet or Notre Dame’s blue?
Daniel, the orangutan, climbed up and touched the Ohio State t-shirt for a just a brief moment. It appeared he then gave it some thought and moved on to the Notre Dame shirt. In interacting with the Fighting Irish shirt, he grabbed, held and pulled it down from the post.
The zoo keeper claimed that was more than enough to get the victory.
Notre Dame wins. At least in this battle. Tune in Friday to watch the matchup on the gridiron.
