PHOENIX — One person was killed in a two-car accident on U.S. 60 Tuesday morning, state troopers said.

The 8 a.m. wreck closed eastbound lanes in Mesa at Stapley Drive, Arizona Department of Public Safety said, forcing traffic to a standstill for 3 miles.

injuries.

The freeway was closed from Stapley to Gilbert Road.

Authorities didn’t have an estimated time of reopening, but that stretch of the road remained packed around 9:15 a.m.
