Arizona State University ranked among top universities in the nation for best value

PHOENIX — For those looking to earn a college degree without completely breaking the bank, one report ranked Arizona State University as an affordable option to get a high-quality education.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine ranked the university as one of the best college values for 2016. Arizona State University made the magazine’s list of top 100 values among public colleges and universities at No. 88.

“(Students) have such great access to social and cultural activities, internships [and] career experiences here in the fifth-largest city in the United States, and students take advantage of that,” said Kent Hopkins, Vice President for Enrollment Services at ASU.

Hopkins said the university helps ease a student’s financial burden through academic scholarships and need-based scholarships.

“We’re trying to help meet the family’s need to attend a university,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins said the university’s goal is not to enroll students, but to graduate students.

Kiplinger’s ranked the colleges and universities based on academic quality, freshmen retention and persistence rates and affordability.
