PHOENIX — We know there will be snow in downtown Phoenix on Friday, no matter what the forecast calls for.
To help celebrate proclamation by Gov. Doug Ducey, part of downtown will be getting the Winter Wonderland treatment from 4 to 8 p.m.. He officially declared Flagstaff as Arizona’s go-to spot for snow season fun this week and Legends Entertainment District officials will set up downtown to celebrate.
As part of the festivities, First Street will be closed between Washington and Jefferson streets as officials turn it into a family-friendly winter activity area. Families will be able to take snowboarding lessons, watch a live ice carving demonstration and snap some photos.
There will also be some demonstrations and telescopes to check out, courtesy of Lowell Observatory.
In addition to the Flagstaff-themed event, CityScape has opened its annual ice skating rink one block away on Central Avenue between Jefferson and Washington streets.
