Check the bank: Phoenix-area restaurant reports data breach

PHOENIX — If you took the family to dinner at certain Phoenix-area restaurants prior to Thanksgiving, you may want to keep an eye on your bank statement.

Elephant Bar announced Wednesday that hackers had gained access to payment information, including cardholder names and account numbers. It did not include Social Security numbers or addresses.

The chain said 29 stores in seven states were affected, two of them in Arizona. Data from the Chandler location, near Chandler Boulevard and the Loop 101, was stolen between Aug. 12 and Nov. 24. Data from the Peoria location, near 83rd Avenue and Bell Road, was stolen between Sept. 11 and Nov. 24.

Elephant Bar said customers should report any fraudulent charges to notify the card’s issuer.
