All clear: Phoenix Police investigates suspicious items in downtown Phoenix

Phoenix Police have finished investigating suspicious items near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix.

Around 5:25 p.m., a Phoenix Police municipal security guard noticed suspicious items on the light rail platform near Central Avenue and Van Buren Street, said Sergeant Vince Lewis. The area from Second to Central Avenues and Adams to Taylor Streets was cordoned off and cleared while experts examined the items.

This included the discharge of high-powered water charges to assist with examining the items. Once the items were determined to be safe, the area was reopened. A temporary disruption of the light rail trains, all traffic and buses along the route occurred.

Arizona State Police also urged people to stay clear of the area during the investigation.
