PHOENIX — In order to get Valley pups pumped up for Saturday’s Walk to Save Animals in Tempe, a dog food company will be hosting the Phoenix-area’s first pop-up “doggie foodie station” during the walk, according to a recent press release.

Natural Balance will be hosting the food and treat station at a pet festival during the family-friendly 5K in hopes of energizing all the pups participating in the walk.

The annual Walk to Save Animals will benefit the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA, a local animal shelter and veterinarian office. It will begin at 8:45 a.m. and go until noon, giving animal lovers plenty of time to stroll along Tempe Town Lake with man’s best friend.

If playing with puppies is not enough incentive, Saturday’s walk will also attempt to set the Guinness World Record for “Largest Gathering of Adopted Shelter Animals in One Location.”

Although admission to the pet festival is free, participants must raise or donate at least $35 to participate in the walk.

Proceeds will go toward finding loving homes for the nearly 5,000 homeless pets that arrive at AAWL’s shelter every year, according to the press release.
