PHOENIX — If you’re looking for a way to get rid of any Halloween candy stashes, Operation Gratitude may have a solution.

Starting Monday, some Valley dental offices will be “buying back” Halloween candy to send to troops overseas.

Operation Gratitude has collected more than 130 tons of candy from participating dental offices to send to troops since the Halloween Candy Buy Back Program began in 2005, according to the program’s website.

Over 15 local dental offices have partnered with the nonprofit to collect and send candy in care packages to American service members.

To participate, bring in unopened candy to any of the participating locations and receive $1 per pound up to 5 pounds.

The Chandler Impressions Dental office will be holding an event to buy back candy, complete with food trucks, raffles and obstacle courses.

“This event lets us go beyond merely words,” Dr. Brigham D. Baker said in a press release.
