PHOENIX — As if Monday mornings weren’t challenging enough, Valley residents faced nonworking traffic lights, downed trees and street closures when they headed out to start their work week.

The day after a storm pelted parts of metro Phoenix with hail and rain, cleanup began.

A microburst seemed to do the most damage in Glendale, even knocking down a row of warehouses.

The rain and wind nearly flattened a gas station at 59th Avenue and Interstate 10:

Camelback Avenue was closed between 51st and 55th avenues (power lines), and so was Missouri Avenue from 57th to 59th avenues. Crews were also repairing downed power poles at 51st Avenue and and Bethany Home Road.

Meanwhile, other streets in the area were littered with trees, forcing drivers around road-block signs and tree parts.

Utility company workers were parked and working before the sun was even up.
