ASU campuses ban smoking starting in August

Arizona State University students will have to take a hike to smoke in the future.
Starting next fall semester, ASU campuses and buildings will become smoke-free. The change, according to a campus online news publication, becomes effective for the next fall semester on Aug. 1.
As of now, the policy requires staff and students to smoke in designated areas or be at least 25 feet from doorways.
ASU has already gotten the ball rolling with a plan designed to ease the transition.
Maricopa Community Colleges went smoke- and tobacco-free in July.
