Valley roofers are seeing their best business in years as one storm after another hits the Valley.

Phil Unger with KY-KO Roofing said his calls have been up about 50 percent in the past few days.

Most of the roofs Unger is repairing are almost two decades old and even the smallest leak can turn into a major problem.

“It’s really good for business,” he said. “Being born and raised in Arizona, it seems like it rained constantly years ago but that’s gone away. These heavy rains cause a lot of problems.”

Unger said that just one roof tile out of place can cause problems with the type of storms the Valley has seen lately.

“This heavy downpour can cause a ceiling in a kitchen to cave in,” he said.

Unger said it is important that homeowners with older roofs get them checked out as a precaution, as roofers are planning to be busy through year’s end with a potentially wet winter coming up.
