PHOENIX — The 2012 Summer Olympics have come to an end and Valley gyms have enjoyed a surge in membership because of interest in the Games.

Bobbe Ariano, owner of Orange Theory Fitness near the Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road, said Olympic fever brought about three to four new clients in the door each day during the Games.

Ariano said the biggest factor in deciding whether to sign up with a gym is making the decision to try something new.

“If you’re willing to challenge yourself, you will see results,” she said. “We are a one-hour heart-rate based workout.”

Ariano calls her business a “micro-gym.” It has weights, rowing machines and much of the other equipment that the big name gyms have, but without the crowds. The gym also offers monthly membership.
