PHOENIX — Think you have what it takes to shred the guitar with the likes of Slash, Carlos Santana or Eric Clapton?

We sure don’t, but we’re willing to bet a lot of Phoenicians try their best at the upcoming air guitar championship on Wednesday.

Hosted by Crescent Ballroom, the Phoenix Air Guitar Championship pits the best imaginary Jimi Hendrixes out there against each other to decide who’s the best in the west.

While the winner will be decided too late to make the official Air Guitar World Championship, we’re guessing the bragging rights alone will be the same as landing an imaginary record deal.

Interested guitar heroes should strum a note (or email) over to phxairguitar@gmail.com. Entry and attendance are both on the house. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Crescent Ballroom is located near Second Avenue and Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix.

To get you pumped up for the show, here is one of the best air guitar players America has to offer. Matt “Airistotle” Burns came in second at this year’s world championship.
