PHOENIX — Arizona dogs apparently have a reason to wag their tails on National Dog Day: The state was named the 10th-best for dog-happy owners in the nation, a survey said.

The survey, conducted by dog treat-maker Milo’s Kitchen, asked 3,000 dog owners how often they are thankful and grateful for their dogs, along with showing their pet loving behavior — buying gifts, giving them a friendly pat, telling the dog “I love you,” etc.

Arizona was one of three western states to make the top 10. California placed first overall while Washington came in third.

Overall, 86 percent of dog owners said their animal is comforting to have around and 71 percent said their dog reminds them to find more joy in daily life.

Ninety-five percent of owners said they have a regular conversations out loud with their dog, which we think means 5 percent of owners are big fat liars.
