PHOENIX — Incumbent Councilman Daniel Valenzuela dominated in the District 5 race for re-election, as of 11:00 p.m.

Valenzuela was the only City Council member facing re-election that went up against a challenger. Valenzuela appeared to have 73.75 percent of the votes while Felix Garcia had 26.25 percent.

“Tonight’s landslide victory stands as a testament to the support of so many residents, business owners and neighborhood leaders. Thank you,” said Valenzuela in a statement. “We faced a slew of disgusting personal attacks and one lie after another targeting my family and my loved ones – and yet our supporters never wavered. I will continue to work hard every day to earn your support and to serve the city of Phoenix.”

Thelda Williams was re-elected in District 1 with Bill Gates staying at his post in District 3 and Michael Nowakowski getting a second term in District 7.

Phoenix.gov has all the unofficial results from the mayor and council election including the decision on Proposition 104, the comprehensive transportation plan and Phoenix Greg Stanton’s bid for re-election.
