The costs of adopting or having a baby

Having a baby means buying diapers, food, clothing and possibly childcare. But there’s also the cost of giving birth. Couples without health insurance can expect to pay around $10,000 to $12,000 with no complications, according to the article. But if there are complications or a cesarean needs to be done, the costs can rise to more than $21,000.

Couples who have minimal risks for complications can have the baby at an accredited birth center. These are significantly less expensive and are pretty popular, according to the article. Parents can also take various classes to help them prepare for having the baby.

Adopting a child doesn’t come with the risk of complications during birth, but using an adoption agency can cost parents anywhere from $20,000 to $35,000, according to GoBankingRates.com. Those costs usually cover placement fees, social worker visits, home study and others.
