Motorists should plan ahead to avoid multiple road closures and restrictions during another busy weekend of construction across the Valley freeway system.

Roadwork will disrupt traffic on Loops 101, 202 and 303, State Route 51, and SR 347 over the next few days, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory for Oct. 2-5.

Here is a rundown of all the areas with potential construction-related delays and detours on Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (all times are subject to change):

Widening project blocks several miles of Loop 101 in northwest Valley

In the northwest Valley, the westbound Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway is closing from 51st Avenue to 75th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

In addition, motorists won’t be able to reach westbound Loop 101 from the ramps at 27th and 35th avenues and both directions of Interstate 17.

ADOT suggests taking Union Hills Drive to 75th Avenue to Loop 101 to bypass the closure.

Two Phoenix freeways will be closed for construction work

In north Phoenix, westbound Loop 303 is closing from I-17 to 43rd Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge construction near TSMC Arizona.

Motorists can take the northbound I-17 frontage road to Dove Valley Road to 43rd Avenue to reach Loop 303.

Meanwhile, northbound SR 51 is closing from I-10 to Indian School Road in central Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for an ongoing pavement improvement project.

Drivers can use 16th, 24th or 32nd streets to travel between I-10 and Indian School Road.

Widening project continues on Loop 202 Santan Freeway

In the East Valley, the westbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway is closing from Arizona Avenue to the Loop 101 Price Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for work on a widening project.

The closure includes the westbound Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 and the ramps from Gilbert, Cooper and McQueen roads to westbound Loop 202.

Pecos and Germann roads are the closest alternative east-west routes while Loop 202 is closed.

Watch for bottlenecks due to lane closures on Loop 101 and SR 347

Motorists in three other areas will have to deal with lane restrictions that could result in delays.

In south Scottsdale, the southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be reduced to one or two lanes from McKellips Road to the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement maintenance. As part of the project, the eastbound Loop 202 ramps to both directions of Loop 101 are closing from 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Farther north in Scottsdale, southbound Loop 101 will be restricted to two lanes from Princess Drive/Pima Road to Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a pavement improvement project, with intermittent ramp closures in the area.

The last item on ADOT’s weekend advisory could slow traffic between the city of Maricopa and Chandler. SR 347 will be limited to one lane each way between Casa Blanca Road and Mammoth Way from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for paving work.
