Driver dies in overnight crash after running red light at Phoenix intersection

A driver died in an overnight collision after he ran a red light at a west Phoenix intersection, authorities said.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 43rd Avenue and Cactus Road just after midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The driver who ran a red light was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Three people in the other vehicle were hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The intersection was closed throughout the early-morning hours for the investigation. As of 6:20 a.m., police said detectives were wrapping up their work.
